Besides his regular duties, Luo dealt mainly with guiding and consulting with the crew about the fighter jets. His work and rest on the carrier strictly accorded with the military regimen.

He had multiple conversations with colleagues and crew members about matters such as aircraft repair and how to move the aircraft on the carrier.

At one point, he felt unwell, but he did not leave the carrier or see a doctor.

After successful take-off and landing training of the J-15 fighter jet, Luo made a phone call to his wife and said he was very pleased with the results.

This was his only call to his wife in the eight days he was aboard the carrier. It was their last conversation.
