More than 20 tourist sites are expected to raise their ticket prices by 20 percent to 60 percent as the high season approaches, Economic Information reported on Wednesday.

According to an ordinance introduced by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2007, the price adjustment cycle should be more than three years. The latest price adjustment was in 2008 and now, as this time-limit has past, many tourist attractions are raising their entrance fees.

However, some tourists are complaining that service facilities such as seats and toilets at tourist attractions are inadequate despite higher entrance fees.

In addition, dining and accommodations are unsatisfactory, leading to more discontent among tourists.

In the high season, raising ticket prices at tourist sites is a common practice, but placing too much emphasis on immediate interests will lead to the loss of customers, said Ding Zaixian, vice-chairman of Shandong Tourism Trade Association.

The admission fees at many tourist sites already surpass 100 yuan ($15.87) and even 200 yuan ($34.74), and the total cost may surpass 1,000 yuan ($158.7) for a family of three when other fees are added, said Liu Zheng, a citizen in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province.

The high-priced sites will become out of reach for tourists from working families, Liu added.
