Liver charity's success

"Love Liver Lifelong", a charity program initiated by China's first portal website specifically for hepatitis patients - www.519liver.com - and the Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control, has been a great success after one year's operation, according to the organizer of the program.

The program has raised more than 341 million yuan to provide 1,883 treatments over the past year. The organizer said that "Love Liver Lifelong" is to be a 20-year project that will attract billions of yuan to deliver more than 100,000 treatments.

Improving baby care

Sponsored by Beingmate, a Chinese leading baby care producer, the Chinese Baby Growth Forum was held last weekend in Beijing.

The forum was focused on nutrition, physical training and the psychological health of babies and mothers. It aimed to seek scientific baby raising models tailored to current social and economic conditions in China. Beingmate said that it will further strengthen cooperation with experts and insiders to help upgrade China's baby care sector.

Ikea helps UNICEF

Swedish furnishing retailer Ikea is going to launch a campaign to help children in China for the fifth consecutive year by donating money for every soft toy it sells.

No matter what the sale price is, Ikea will donate 10 yuan to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for each toy sold in its seven stores in China between Dec 24 and Feb 21.

The group expected to raise 1 million yuan from the program for UNICEF's early childhood development projects in Chinese rural regions.

Charity aids patients

The China Physician Association, together with France-based Pharmaceutical leader Sanofi-Aventis, recently set up a 4.7 million yuan charity fund to treat patients suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Since Dec 1, patients carrying this type of disease can call the help line of 8008103386 to joint the project and seek help from relevant hospitals.
