Investing in gold

A new type of gold bar with the country's lowest commission charge was introduced to meet growing demand for investments in the precious metal.

The new type of gold bar was developed by the World Gold Council, Jingyi Gold Co Ltd and Beijing-based Caibai Gold and Jewelry Co. The minimum commission charge is only three yuan per gram for each gold bar.

GM joint venture

US-based General Motors and China's State-owned automaker, FAW Group Corp, announced a 2 billion yuan joint venture to make light-duty trucks and vans.

The new venture, announced as a 50-50 partnership, is based in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province. It will focus on the production and sale of light-duty trucks and vans.

Insurance survey

Insurance ranks third as a wealth management vehicle for Chinese residents, according to a recent survey from Heng An Standard Life Insurance.

Insurance ranks behind bank deposits and property purchases, according to the survey, which interviewed 6,825 people in 12 major cities.

According to the survey, 39.6 percent of the people interviewed would buy insurance as an investment.

Trade fair

Thousands of businessmen attended the three-day 15th Shandong-Taiwan Trade Fair held in Weifang, Shandong, in August.

The fair centered on cross-Straits exchanges in the fields of new energy, new light sources and new materials.
