Summer camp
Amway, a direct selling company for healthcare and skincare products, invited 50 students from 25 migrant workers' schools to participate in a summer camp in Beijing.
The children attending the Amway Sunshine Plan camp will be asked to write about their experiences in the capital city for later publication.
The Amway Sunshine Plan also supports construction and renovation projects for migrant workers' schools.
Jet Li grant
Mountain Dew, a soft drink brand of PepsiCo Inc, donated 888,000 yuan to the Jet Li One Foundation in Beijing for an independent-living project.
The gift will support young people through a series of education programs that teach them to live independently and also strive for innovation.
The charitable foundation was created by famed actor and Red Cross ambassador Jet Li in partnership with the Red Cross Society of China.
Panda habitat
Mercedes-Benz and its authorized dealers in China signed a three-year partnership with the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
The partnership will help improve the living conditions of 13 young pandas born after the Sichuan earthquake.
Through its Green Legacy Program, Mercedes-Benz will improve the habitat for the pandas at the center.
The automotive company will support general research at the center and also "adopt" two giant pandas upon their expected birth later this year.
Arts campaign
Beijing-based Linda Group, a private industrial conglomerate, sponsored a national painting campaign for students based on environment-friendly themes, especially on protecting oceans.
The campaign, co-organized by the State Oceanic Administration and Asia Art Fund, seeks to inspire children to take care of nature form early stage and promote the need for environmental protection.
