The Modern Chinese Traditional Medicine Science Research Institute recently donated electronic libraries to hospitals, pharmacies and research institutions.

Composed of hundreds of CDs, the libraries cover the history, science, dailyuse and new developments in the traditional medicine sector - "a treasure of China", the editor said.

Chinese architectural art

The first session of Traditional Chinese Architecture Photography Contest, sponsored by China Resources Snow Breweries (China) Ltd, has just begun.

The national contest aims to "inspire people to discover the beauty of Chinese traditional architecture, respect Chinese history and culture, as well as increase protection awareness in participants and visitors". According to the sponsor, China's largest beer producer, it will provide internship opportunities for the university students who win.

South Africa photos

A photography exhibition presenting natural scenery and local cultures of South Africa was held recently in Beijing with the support of the South Africa Tourism Bureau and sponsorship of Caissa International Travel.

The exhibition was offered to help Chinese people know more about South Africa and strengthen social relations between the two nations.

SOS for children

The SOS Children's Village in Beijing jointly organized by International SOS Children's Village and the Beijing Municipal Government, will officially open on July 3, 2009.

The charity organization itself adopts healthy children who have lost their parents and children whose parents are seriously ill or disabled. According to Jin Linde, president of the SOS Children's Village in Beijing, the Village will raise each child in a family manner and with each "family" consisting of six to eight children and supervised by one "mum". Jin stated that the Village can accommodate a total of 15 "families"- some 120 children.
