IP infringing products

Beijing Customs recently seized IP infringing commodities set for export to the United States, Canada, England and Australia by mail. More than 5,000 pieces packaged in 52 postal parcels included watches, trunks and bags, straps and gym shoes. Among the counterfeits were 2,100 fake watches carrying brand names such as Rolex, Omega and Armani.

With the rapid development of online shopping, the number of postal infringement cases has risen. Last year, Beijing Customs confiscated 28,794 IP infringing products sent by post, accounting for 38 percent of the total number of products seized.

IP seminar

A seminar on trends in IP litigation jointly sponsored by the law firm of Oblon Spivak in the United States and Beijing Unitalen Attorneys at Law was recently held in Beijing.

The seminar provided a closer look at the system for IP litigation and procedures in the US, and explored strategies and countermeasures by professional lawyers.

During the session, lawyers from the two firms gave lectures on US patent disputes and litigation heard by the International Trade Commission, for patents in China and reexamination by the US Patent and Trademark Office.

A similar seminar was held in Shanghai two days later.
