Earthquake recovery
Yokohama Rubber China donated 2 million yuan recently to Running Angel Fund to support recovery of physically handicapped children from the Sichuan earthquake.
The Japan-headquartered company contributed over 1.5 million yuan last year to the fund, which provides help to physically handicapped children under the Chinese Red Cross Foundation.
Elderly people care
The "Depend Elderly People Care Campaign", sponsored by adult diaper brand Depend of Kimberly-Clark, was launched recently in Beijing, aiming to help senior citizens with incontinence enjoy the same convenient and happy lives as their peers.
Kimberly-Clark, under the philanthropic program, will hold various healthcare activities for seniors, inspire them to take part in community programs and donate diaper products to the elderly in nursing houses. The campaign will be promoted to other key cities, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Chengdu.
Philanthropy contest
The Shanghai Community Venture Philanthropy Contest, organized by NPI (Non-Profit Incubator) and supported by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, has just kicked off.
The contest is intended to select creative and sustainable philanthropic initiatives and offer financial aid and expertise to the initiators.
NPI, a non-profit and non-governmental organization, will coordinate assessment of the initiatives, venture capitalists introduction and other support.
Water access
ITT Corporation has announced an expansion of its global corporate philanthropy program, ITT Watermark, with a $200,000 investment toward improving water access for students and educators in China.
The water equipment and treatment solutions provider has partnered with the China Women's Development Foundation to conduct the program. The program at the current stage will provide eight rural schools with safe drinking water and some new sanitation facilities, as well as education on water safety, environmental protection and hygiene.
