Already known worldwide for its unspoiled natural beauty, Sweden has adopted an even more cautious approach toward development amid the growing importance of environmental protection across the globe.

The largest country in northern Europe, Sweden has grown to become one of the world's strongest and most stable economies through home-grown technological innovation in a wide range of industries.

Despite its steady growth, the country has minimized its adverse impact on the environment, making it one of the world's "greenest" economies.

With a population of only 9.2 million, the nation has made a remarkable impact by showing the rest of the world that economic development and sustainable growth can be achieved without sacrificing the environment.

Known as "the center of Scandinavia," the capital Stockholm is home to northern Europe's largest stock market and a host of multinational companies, including global giants such as Ericsson.

"Telecommunication is one of the most important sectors in Stockholm and the collaboration between companies from China and Stockholm in the field is intense and of highest importance for both parts," said Stockholm Mayor Sten Nordin.

In fact, according to a report by the World Economic Forum, Sweden has one of the world's most developed ICT sectors.

The innovative spirit appears to run deep among the Swedes, as seen in the many local companies that have expanded beyond the country into huge markets, among them retail giants IKEA and H&M. (Continued on next page)
