In this highly globalized economy, transactions from point A to point B now involve a myriad of steps in between. With this prevailing business milieu, service-focused companies achieve success only when they assume responsibility over the entire process for customers.
Backed by a fleet of 35 vessels and an integrated logistics system, Sweden-based Osterstroms has boosted the business of its clients by offering simplified one-stop transport solutions and managing the entire process from loading until delivery.
"We offer an end-to-end service so that when a customer places an order, we handle it all the way until it arrives at the intended doorstep," said company founder and CEO Percy Osterstrom.
The company's coordinated IT-system also keeps clients informed on the status of their order every step of the way.
Not resting on its success, Osterstroms has further improved the overall efficiency of its logistics chain by developing innovative products such as the MultiDocker. The crane has become the bulk cargo handler of choice at ports across the Nordic region and has attracted users throughout the rest of the world because of its precision controls and advanced technology.
Osterstroms is also designing a new hull that would increase the energy efficiency of its ships in line with its commitment to protect the environment. Optimizing transport routes and sorting waste at the source also form its efforts to become a "greener" company.
Though its traditional customers have been the Scandinavian forest and steel industries, the company has set its sights on the booming Chinese market.
"China is definitely a market that we would like to grow in and now seems the most opportune moment to do so. With our products and services, we feel that we have something to offer them, just as they have something to offer us," said Osterstrom.
