Fighting breast cancer
GE Healthcare China has joined hands with China Anti-Breast Cancer Foundation to launch a breast cancer early health education program.
The program will travel 10 key Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Xi'an and Chongqing, to popularize breast cancer early prevention and easy self-examination knowledge and inspire women to adopt healthy lifestyle.
New global business book
Thanks to the sponsorship of Boston Consulting Group, a new book Globality: Competing with Everyone from Everywhere for Everything was released recently.
The book describes how the established business model - centralized, top-down, and process driven, with influence running from West to East - is receding and new challengers from rapidly developing economies are jumping to worldwide leadership positions, providing established player with valuable lessons in competing in the ear of globality.
Building a better environment
The Better Environment Scheme sponsored by Shell China and Beijing-based NGO Friends of Nature held its 10 years' anniversary last month.
Launched in 1996 and run in primary and middle schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Nanjing and Huizhou, the program encourages school children to design practical projects to create a more eco-friendly community and then provides funds for the best ideas, to make them a reality.
Design talents competition
Sponsored by China International Talents Development Center, International Competition of Exhibition & Display Design has begun and will end next February.
The competition is promoting the development of industrial design sector and discovering designing talents. Contest winners will be honored by the center and partners of the center will offer overseas training, internships and job opportunities for the winners.
Health for university students
Schering-Plough, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, has begun a program with universities in China to teach female students about building their physical and mental health.
The program will cover about 50 universities in five cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Xi'an and Wuhan. The first lessons have begun at Tsinghua University.
Jeweler aids orphans
The China Charity Federation has received a donation of 1.5 million yuan from Hong Kong jewelry giant Chow Tai Fook Co to establish a foundation.
The Chow Tai Fook Foundation will mainly aim to help poor students and orphans. The company says it will contribute 50 million yuan to the foundation within five years.
