China Duty Free aids schools
China Duty Free Group Co Ltd's China Duty Free Hope Foundation recently began working with Hope School construction in China's poverty-stricken areas.
The group will inspire its nearly 200 stores, luxury commodities providers and consumers to donate for the primary school education project and promises to set up 20 Hope Schools within the next three years.
Narada honors teachers
One hundred seventy two teachers from more than 90 migrant workers' children schools nationwide were honored recently by the Narada Foundation. .
According to the charity foundation, the awards, ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 yuan for each teacher, were to recognize the respect for their contributions to the disadvantaged children's education and attract more public concern to migrant workers' children.
Internships for students
With the cooperation of Junior Achievement (JA), a non-profit US-based organization engaged in helping school students receive business education, Boeing (China) Investment Co Ltd has offered internship opportunities for nearly 2,100 high school students in China.
According to JA, the initiative will not only help the students know how large companies operate and set up their career goal but also make the company establish their brands in young people's minds. It hopes more transnational companies like Boeing to take part in the internship program.
'Green' award
A team composed of students from Peking University and Tsinghua University has just won the top honors in the "Green Startup Contest" with a 150,000-yuan startup fund.
The contest is organized by China Environmental Protection Foundation and Shang GM, which collects environmental protection business designs in universities around China and tries to encourage Chinese high-educated youth to take part in environmentally related careers.
Vaccines for China's kids
GlaxoSmithKline has just joined with the United Nations Children' Fund to launch a children's vaccination popularization program around China.
The pharmaceutical will donated vaccine for the program. And the program aims at promoting vaccinations for children in China's rural areas and helping to prevent them from hepatitis and other diseases.
