Subaru China aids schools

Auto-maker Subaru China has donated 484,000 yuan to the China Youth Development Foundation for library construction and teacher training for Project Hope in earthquake-stricken areas of Sichuan province.

The money will mainly go to 5,000 books for the five Subaru Hope libraries in Subaru Hope primary schools; training in psychological counseling for teachers to help children and training for teachers in underdeveloped areas in western and central China to improve education in these areas.

Sichuan Mobile's CSR report

Sichuan Mobile has released its second corporate social responsibility report recently, showing the efforts it has made over the year on economic, social and environmental responsibilities.

In economic development, the company's operating income for 2007 reached 14 billion yuan with taxation of nearly 2 billion yuan.

For social responsibilities, Sichuan Mobile has been committed to providing communications infrastructure for villages since 2004; and by the end of 2007, the company has invested 3.95 billion yuan for communications infrastructure in 9,232 administrative villages. In addition, 150 million yuan were invested for 50,409 information terminals in rural areas providing agricultural information.

Healthy competition

Sponsored by Ciming Checkup, the country's largest health exam chain store, a Healthcare Knowledge Competition has just begun.

The company hopes to use the competition to let more people recognize the importance of a complete health exam.

Winners can get exam cards from Ciming. The competition has so far attracted more than 80,000 participants.

ET Solar aids rural Tibet

ET Solar Group Corporation, a Nanjing-based vertically integrated manufacturer of photovoltaic products with manufacturing facilities in Taizhou, China, has donated multiple peak voltage (PV) systems to eight remote Tibetan villages.

The PV systems, worth nearly 1 million yuan, will provide electricity for the villages. These villages are located in a rural area that is more than 4,000 m high and not connected to any electric grid system.

In addition to the donation, ET Solar also installed the PV systems and provided extensive training to the Tibetan villagers to ensure that they acquired sufficient knowledge about the systems.
