1908: GE set up the first lighting plant in Shenyang in northeast China's Liaoning province.
1979: GE resumed trade with China.
1981: GE opened its first representative office in Beijing.
1991: GE established its first joint venture, GE Hangwei Medical Systems Co, in Beijing.
1994: GE (China) Co Ltd was established.
October 2003: GE China Technology Center was set up in Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park of Shanghai. This is GE's third global technology center after the ones in New York, and Bangalore, India.
Feb 2004: GE Water & Process Technologies launched its first water treatment plant in China in Wuxi of east China's Jiangsu province.
May 2004: GE signed an agreement with the International Olympic Committee to become an Olympics global partner.
May 2006: GE signed a memorandum of understanding with National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to introduce eco-friendly technologies to China and launched ecomagination, GE's global business initiative to invest in environment technologies, increase sales and reduce its own emission.
September 2006: GE Aviation set up the first China Operations Center in Shanghai to provide Chinese clients with 24 hour, seven day service.
September 2007: GE entered into a strategic alliance with Wuhan Iron & Steel Co after the two parties signed a deal to introduce blast furnace gas power project that will result in significant efficiency enhancement and emission reduction.
