Amway ambassador

US cleaning and personal care products firm Amway recently named Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho Gaucho as its world ambassador for the firm's Nutrilite One by One Campaign, a charity helping children since 2003.

As part of the campaign, the company is involved in various child-related programs in China. It has donated about $1 million to the China Volunteer Education Aid Program, which aids about 50,000 children annually.

CNPC snow aid

The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has donated 33.78 million yuan to the snow-hit regions through the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

CNPC also says it has tried every means necessary to ensure the continuous supply of refined oil products since the crippling snowstorm in mid-January.

The company's listed arm PetroChina published its first corporate social responsibility report in 2007, highlighting energy supplies, public welfare, and the health, safety and the environmental obligations to and by its employees.

Shanghai Pudong honored

The Shanghai Pudong Development Bank has received "The Most Responsible Corporation" award at the third session of The International Forum of the Chinese Society of the Red Cross.

The forum was co-organized by the Red Cross, the Ministry of Commerce, State Administration of Industry and Commerce and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of State Council.

The bank won the award for its sound business performance, , contributions to the community and disadvantaged people, as well as its active engagement in environmental protection.

Nestle-Leyou pact

Nestle has signed a contract with Leyou, a domestic mother and baby products chain retailer, to set up four "nutrition experience" rooms in Leyou's outlets in Beijing.

The rooms aim to promote professional nutrition and baby raising knowledge to young mothers. Experts from Nestle, the world's leading food producer, will offer free consulting services for customers.

Leyou has 19 outlets in Beijing. The four nutrition rooms in are expected to be opened in four stores by May.

Golden start

Just Gold, a domestic fashion gold jewelry producer is working with the China Women Development Foundation to support urban women's business start-ups.

Until May 31, when a consumer buys a piece of Just Gold jewelry, the manufacture will donate 20 yuan to the foundation. The foundation will allot the money to its urban women business development projects
