Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc, a leading scientific and medical device manufacturer, announced on Wednesday the establishment of the China Innovation Center in Shanghai.
The center will support high-growth markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
"China is one of our fastest-growing markets and continues to be a key contributor to our success," said Michael Shafer, President, China and Global Environmental & Process Monitoring Business.
He noted that the environmental business sector, including sales of air-quality and water monitors, accounts for a significant portion of the company's revenue in China.
The company has invested $9.5 million in the center to support its rapidly growing R&D organization, which is expected to add 200 to 300 engineers during the next two to three years.
