Automechanika Shanghai expects to set new records

China's auto industry is looking forward to the largest-ever Automechanika Shanghai show at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from Dec 11 to 14 with a record 3,900 exhibitors and 70,000 buyers expected.

The 180,000 square meter exhibition, up 13 percent compared with last year's show, is organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the China National Automotive Industry International Corp. It is supported by more than 30 trade associations and government agencies.

Jason Cao, general manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, said that "Automechanika Shanghai is a premium sourcing platform for the whole automotive chain that helps international companies tap the China market and helps Chinese companies expand their export businesses".

Highlights for 2012 will include international zones in product halls, an expanded accessories hall, a remanufacturing pavilion and new energy zone as well as pavilions from France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, China's Taiwan province, Thailand and the US.

Running concurrently with the show will be fringe programs catering to all levels of industry specialists.

Last year's show attracted 3,619 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions, and 61,178 visitors from 131 countries and regions in an exhibition area of 160,000 sq m.

For easy sourcing, the show was split into three main product categories - parts and components, repair and maintenance, and accessories and tuning.

Parts and components exhibitors included Affinia, ArvinMertior, Beijing Automobile, BorgWarner, Bosch, Brembo, Chang'an, Continental VDO, ContiTech, Cummins, Dayco, Delphi, Federal-Mogul, Fras-Le SA, Great Wall, Mahle, Mann+Hummel, NTN-SNR, Panasonic, Philips, Schaeffler, TRW, Yuchai, and ZF.

The repair and maintenance category was represented by companies such as Apollo Spray, Bantam, Corghi, Graco, Giuliano, Hennessy, Karcher, Launch, MAHA, PCL, SPX, Stanley, Tech, Tongrun, Wedge Clamp, and Zonda, and the accessories & tuning category included Biaobang, Chief, EGR, ITW, Liqui Moly, Meguiar's, Sansui, Strona and UCI / FRAM.
