Household products retailer Hola plans to expand its business in China's second-tier cities in the second half of the year, the Test Rite Group-owned brand said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The company plans to open 50 to 55 Hola stores by 2014 in the country.

Hola wants to take advantage of potential opportunities in second-tier cities, which are less affected by real estate control policies, and where demand for decoration products is growing in line with the rapid pace of urbanization.

Hola will open 5 to 7 new stores in Tianjin, Chongqing, Shijianzhuang, and Wenzhou, in the second half of the year.

The company entered the Chinese market in 2004 and has more than 20 stores in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, among other cities, which focus on the home decoration market.
