London Olympic mascot named after small town

Much Wenlock is the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games set up in 1850 and the games are still held every year. Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games, considered the town a major inspiration for the modern Olympics. The mascot of the upcoming London Olympic Games has been named "Wenlock" after the small town. [Full story on Wenlock]
