Ghana vice-president to visit

At the invitation of Vice-President Li Yuanchao, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia of Ghana will pay an official visit to China from Tuesday to June 25, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said. Bawumia will attend the China-Africa Industrial Capacity Cooperation-Ghana Promotion Conference. Ghana was among the first group of sub-Sahara African countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Bawumia's visit will be the first official one by the Ghanaian leadership since its new government was formed at the beginning of the year.

Chongqing turns 20 as municipality

Looking ahead

On Sunday, Chongqing will celebrate its 20th anniversary of officially becoming the country's fourth province-level municipality directly under the central government. Photo exhibitions were presented and special postcards were released to commemorate the history and the development of the city and its people in the past two decades.

Fujian to host Straits forum

The Ninth Straits Forum will be held in Fujian province from Saturday to Friday. More than 8,000 will attend the forum's 30 events. A special business-startup program for young people across the Straits will be featured.

International film fest opens in Shanghai

Looking ahead

The Shanghai International Film Festival will kick off on Saturday and continue through June 26. Some 500 films selected worldwide will be screened at 45 cinemas in the city, including director Antti Jokinen's Flowers of Evil.
