Falling turtle breaks car window

A man in Ganzhou is taking his neighbor to court after his car's rear window was smashed by a falling turtle. The incident occurred on May 29 when the reptile fell from the balcony of an apartment. The man is demanding compensation for the damage, but the turtle's owner said that it was not her fault. Police attempted to mediate between the pair but were unable to resolve the dispute. The turtle died in the fall.

Butcher cleans feet with cleaver

An investigation has been launched by urban patrol officers in Yiliang county after footage emerged of a butcher using a meat cleaver to clean the soles of her feet. A number of netizens said the video, which was published online in May, made them feel sick. It was shot in the county's Yanbatang meat and vegetable market, according to reports.

WeChat used to cheat victims

An unemployed woman in Wenzhou, surnamed Xia, who posed as three people to defraud her victims out of more than 400,000 yuan ($58,880) was recently detained. Xia, 31, opened three bogus WeChat accounts, passing herself off as an anesthesiologist, a business tycoon and an educational official to con her cyberfriends. Xia mainly defrauded her victims by claiming to help them seek jobs and promotions, or purchase houses. She was detained late last month after one of her victims sought police help.

Snake surprise scares residents

A 1-meter-long snake was found curled up in the corner of an apartment in Yanshan county on June 3. The residents were scared by the snake and sought police help. Firefighters arrived at the scene to remove it, advising residents to drive snakes away using sulfur powder.

Man fined over driving mock Lexus

A man was fined 1,000 yuan ($150) by traffic police on Yanhe Highway for trying to pass off a Huanghai vehicle as a Lexus on June 9. The man had attached a modified Lexus logo to his car. Police officers warned car owners against making changes to their vehicles that do not match the information given on car registration documents.

Flushing toilets drive man potty

A man in Xiamen became incensed by the constant sound of flushing toilets coming from the apartment directly above him, and resorted to telling local media after failing to resolve the issue through discussions with the apartment owner. After visiting the apartment above him, the man found that the 100-square-meter space has been divided into 11 rooms for rent, all with individual toilets.
