Briefing planned on Made in China 2025 strategy

The State Council Information Office will hold a media briefing in Beijing on Wednesday on the progress of the Made in China 2025 strategy - a plan to transform the country into a global manufacturing powerhouse. Since its announcement in 2015, the nation has seen steady progress in industrial growth, smart manufacturing, innovation and product quality and branding. A recent example is the COMAC C919 passenger aircraft, which made its maiden flight earlier this month.

Preparations underway for major Urumqi fair

On Wednesday, the government of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region will hold a news conference in Beijing on the 2017 Eurasia Commodity and Trade Expo, which will be held in the regional capital Urumqi in August. Organized by the secretariat of the China-Eurasia Expo and the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, the event is expected to attract exhibitors from sectors such as wine and jewelry.

Officials to update media on reactor construction

The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission will issue an update in Beijing on Wednesday on the construction of the first Hualong One nuclear reactor in Fuqing, Fujian province. The project was approved by the central government in early 2015. The Hualong One is a domestically developed third-generation reactor.
