Coldplay's ballad

Coldplay recently released a piano ballad in a surprise move by the English rockers to mark frontman Chris Martin's 40th birthday. Hypnotised, described by the band as a "new non-single song", is the first track off an EP entitled Kaleidoscope announced for June 2.

Hypnotised starts off with dreamlike chimes and piano before turning into a more traditional rock ballad. The song - in which Martin confesses he's "never gonna be a saint", but finds renewal through love - is accompanied by a soothing video with images of the sea.

Game

Nintendo treat

Fire Emblem Heroes may not be the full-feature mobile incarnation that lifelong fans were looking for, but it's what it needs to be. It's simple, and streamlined, and light to a fault, at least according to its critics. A typical match can take only a minute, giving it the lowest possible impact and ease to fit into a player's life. Its simplified systems and omnipresent weapon triangle make a light, inviting play session that is more about tactics than rote memorization or grinding. This isn't a game that needs to be devoured in a matter of days. Nintendo wants you to keep coming back, checking your daily quests, playing a few missions, and then hopping out.

Film

Genius

Genius, a biopic about the fabled editor Max Perkins, who published some of the US' most famous writers, is now being screened on the Chinese mainland. The star-studded cast, including Colin Firth, Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, is the big draw for most Chinese moviegoers. The film is about the editor who launched the careers of Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas Wolfe.
