Southwest Forestry University in the city of Kunming in Yunnan province held a job fair for college graduates and postgraduates majoring in agriculture and forestry on March 30, with more than 400 enterprises providing 5,000 jobs.

In addition, the university took the lead among Yunnan's universities in opening a service platform on employment and entrepreneurship.

The service platform is accessible to users through the website and by cellphone.

The employers can post recruitment information, select resumes and connect with candidates through the platform, while students can post their resumes there.

The platform helps schools collect data concerning students' employment situations and employers' recruitment features, said Zhang Tangsong, division head of the Department of Student Affairs.

Southwest Forestry University has achieved a great deal in helping students find employment. The school's year-end employment rates have exceeded 95 percent in recent successive years and the school's pioneer park for start-up business has been affirmed as a "Yunnan Provincial Demonstration Park on Youth Pioneering" with a one million yuan ($154,700) provincial subsidy. The park covers 5,000 square meters.

The school also establishes venture capital funds to help students create businesses.

Zhang Tangsong said the university offers courses on entrepreneurship from the first semester and holds a career fair every two weeks to help students become familiar with market demand and develop interview skills. As a result, many lower grade students also attended the job fair held on March 30.
