Wild bamboo fungi in Yunnan province [Photo/kunming.cn]

As its name suggests, bamboo fungi grows by the roots of bamboo plants. Its shape is similar to that of a net umbrella, owing to its nickname, "snow-skirt fairy" and "fungus queen".

Bamboo fungus has a unique, delicious taste and has nutritional benefits. The fungi makes up the main ingredient of a famous Chinese dish called Bamboo Fungus Locus Soup.
