PYONGYANG - Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un had guided a tactical rocket firing drill of the Strategic Force of the Korean People's Army, the country's official news agency KCNA reported Monday.

The drill included launching precision guided missiles and firing of shells with dispersion effect for striking both individual and group targets of the enemy, said the KCNA report, which stressed that this military training "had no slight impact" on "regional peace and security, international navigation order and ecological environment."

The KCNA report also gave a detailed description of Kim Jong Un 's process of guidance.

Kim ascended atop an observation post and was briefed on the drill plan before it started. After the drill, he expressed "great satisfaction" and hoped the strategic force will keep on high alert and be "ready to fire highly effective ballistic rockets any moment" as required.

The DPRK top leader also emphasized the peaceful environment can neither be provided by anyone else or be bartered for anything, saying enduring peace can only be sustained and guaranteed by one' s own strength, so that nobody dares to provoke it. It is necessary to accelerate bolstering up self-defense capability of the Korean People's Army by all means to protect the security and peace of the country and to firmly guard the legacy of its revolution, the KCNA report quoted Kim as saying.

Kim also underscored the need to strengthen combat readiness of the strategic force and to further Juche-oriented rocket science and technology so as to defend the sovereignty and vital rights of the country.

The DPRK fired two Scud missiles ranging about 500 kilometers into its east waters at around 2000 GMT Saturday, according to media reports of the Republic of Korea.

The KCNA reported Friday that the DPRK test-fired "newly developed cutting-edge ultra-precision tactical guided missiles," and its top leader Kim also guided the test-fire at the central monitoring post.
