For conference goers and tourists alike, Yogykarta, or Jogja as it is known locally, misses out on the finesse of Bali or the hustle and bustle of Jakarta. But the land offers a more genuine central Indonesian experience. With volcanoes and two 9th century world heritage site temples, it's well worth spending a few days exploring. China Daily reporter D J Clark went to find out what all the fuss was about.
