Pandas with attitude

The big news this week is pandas with attitude. Kung Fu Panda 2 is proving a big hit in China's movie theaters with his martial arts moves. But the big news in fashion is "Hi Panda", a line of sometimes scowling pandas from a Chinese designer that's proving a huge hit overseas. Sigh. Whatever happened to those old-fashioned cuddly baby pandas?

Pushing while intoxicated

Now that China has tougher drunk driving laws, no one wants to get arrested driving while intoxicated. China Daily reports this week about the co-workers in Changchun who decided to push while intoxicated. Since they'd all been drinking at a dinner party after work, they all pitched in to push home their car to avoid an arrest.

Transform this

China Smack this week says they might as well call the newest Transformers movie Transformers: The Rise of Chinese Product Placement. Several Chinese brands are featured in the movie that will be in Chinese theaters next week. There's Shuhua milk. One transformer robot turns into a Chinese brand Lenovo laptop. Another turns into a Chinese 3D TCL television. Why can't The Week be in the movie, too?

Foreign follies

Every summer, more young foreigners come to China to study and work. For young locals, it's all about getting to know and maybe get a date with someone from a place you know nothing about. Let's look in on three locals who are about to meet three pretty young women from Glasgow, Scotland. Will it be just as romantic and magical as that movie Brigadoon?
