Yum Chocolate Wonderland

It's always said that the Great Wall is the only thing you could see from space, now I'd reckon you could smell it as well because all its bricks have been replaced by chocolate bars here at the World Chocolate Wonderland north to the Bird's Nest.

Inadequate as this winding barrier may be in defending enemies, it's enough to make everybody drool.

And it's not the only thing here that's so chocolate. There are also chocolate painting scroll (Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, Song Dynasty), chocolate porcelain, chocolate Mogao Grottoes and chocolate terra-cotta warriors - not human-size though because chocolate feet are too fragile to shoulder the heavy body.

You could argue that Hershey's has been selling chocolate that looks very much like pyramids already for ages. But old civilization is not the whole story here. Have you ever wondered how cocoa beans become chocolate? How big a lolly can be? Ever looked up to a chocolate waterfall? Ever won a chocolate chess game? Come for all the answers.

It's like Charlie's Chocolate Factory making a real-life landing. And whether the Chinese New Year falls on the Valentine's Day or the Valentine's Day falls on the Chinese New Year, it's doomed to be a sweet winter, at least before spring melts the chocolates.

The Wonderland will be open from January 29 to April. A regular ticket for the Chocolate Wonderland will cost 80 yuan, while it will be 60 yuan for the elderly and other concessionary groups.
