Two new exhibitions are opened to the Beijing public on Tuesday in the Capital Museum.

One exhibition is focused on archeology, titled Exploration of the Ancient Mystery—Archaeology and Discovery. Cultural relics, reproductions of excavated tombs and ancient cultural sites, as well as displays covering the scientific and technological achievements in the field of archeology, paint for the audience a vivid picture of how the subject has developed over the last few decades. Furthermore, some of the latest discoveries and precious cultural relics, such as the oracle bones of the Shang Dynasty and ancient female mummies, are to be shown for the first time, adding even more richness to the exhibition.

Another exhibition titled Memory of a City—People's Home is closer to the life of the people. 800-odd living furnishings of Beijingers since the founding of People's Republic of China are displayed in the hall, evoking people's memories of the early stage of this country's foundation and embodying the great changes that have taken place in its economy and society.

According to the museum, these two exhibitions mark the opening of a series of special exhibitions celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of PRC, which falls on Oct.1 this year.

In order to showcase China’s culture and history, all the staff at the Capital Museum have worked hard to put on these four special exhibitions in honor of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. We hope that they will inspire people to love their motherland.
