Costa Rican President contracts H1N1

On August 11th, WHO announced that A(H1N1) influenza cases have now been reported in over 170 countries and territories worldwide. The most famous victim in the world is Costa Rican president, Oscar Arias. On the 11th, he also confirmed his disease.

This year, Arias is 68 years old. On the 9th he experienced flu symptoms. So far, he is the only state leader to have contracted the illness. Asides from the discomfort of the fever and a sore throat, his condition is good, and the president says he is completely capable of carrying out his work by telecommunicating from home. Vice Health Minister Ana Morice said right now it is impossible to determine how he contracted the illness, but he is definitely in good condition and doesn’t need to be hospitalized.
