NPC starts annual session

The 11th National People's Congress (NPC) of China started its Second Session at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing at 9 am Thursday.

Premier Wen Jiabao delivered a report on the work of the government at the opening meeting.

He also announced a set of plans and polices of the Chinese government to cope with the tough economic situation and stimulate the Chinese economy.

CPPCC members also attended the NPC meeting, and they will discuss the report in groups in the afternoon.
