Perhaps you are fed up with the picturesque regions south of the Yangtze River, so maybe it's time to venture onwards to Northwest China to where one can find desolate beauty.

The experience of travelling in Northwest China, along the Silk Road should not be missed. Many well-known sites in Gansu and Qinghai province and Ningxia Uygur autonomous region can be found along the Silk Road.
