How children earn pocket money around the world

I earned my allowance by helping my mum’s home store front (we used to have a big house in Saigon) little eatery joint every morning, then go to school afterward on a daily basis...and on the weekend I had my own cock fight hobby to even earn extra money.

Canvassed the neighborhood collecting soda bottles to get the deposits back (they were glass back then), shoveled snow, cleaned out garages/basements, landscaping/grass cutting, washed cars, delivered newspapers, worked in a butcher shop, as a stock boy/clerk in a local grocery store, clerked in a pharmacy and delivered medicine to peoples homes, did home repairs and decoration (electric/plumbing/carpentry/masonry/tile/carpet/paint/wallpaper/drywall), blueprint operator and field crew for a surveyor/engineer.

I always had two part-time jobs throughout high school and university.

On Saturday nights I drove to Staten Island to buy booze (the legal age was 18) and sold it out of my car at the drive-in movies (beer/wine/liquor/cigs/condoms/snacks), an associate sold 'other' things as well - if you get my drift.
