China's online search engine market welcomes competition. But competition should not harm the Internet users' interests, says an article in Beijing News Daily. Excerpts:

The conflict between Baidu.com and hao.360.cn has become a tit-for-tat war between the two leading search engines in China, bringing a great deal of inconvenience to Internet users who must make a choice between the two.

It seems to netizens that if the war gets worse, even normal Internet use will be affected. And the two companies do have the power of influencing the users' online surfing experience by blocking each other.

Chinese network users really hope the two giants can defend the baseline of competition and improve their technologies and services through competition rather than trying to replace each other.

More and more cutthroat competition is occurring in the Chinese marketplace. Chinese enterprises and relevant authorities should avoid such competition and promote a healthier market and enterprise culture.
