An avant-garde drama combining comedy, silent footage, speech and animation is set to amaze in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, in April. As a classic of the British theater troupe, 1927, The Animals and Children Took to the Streets delves into social problems using dark humor.
The audience will embark upon a soul-searching tour, immersed in the dark, dirty, midnight setting for the story of a mother and daughter.
Founded in 2005, the 1927 theater troupe has been honored with at least eight major British theater prizes.
As part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012, three of the top productions will travel to Guangzhou in the future. Following 1927 will be Empty Theatre and Blind Summit Theatre.
8 pm, April 4 and 5. Experiment Theatre of Guangzhou Opera House, Exit B1 of Zhujiang New Town subway station, the interchange of subway lines 3 and 5, Guangzhou. 020-3839-2888.
