Taiwan-based playwright and theater director Stan Lai will stage his black comedy Menage a 13 in Guangdong's provincial capital on March 23 and 24.
The heroine, an anchorwoman, discovers her husband, a politician, has a mistress. What makes the seemingly ordinary love triangle special is that the wife decides to take the mistress as her teacher to learn how to play up to her husband. The husband, curious about the ridiculous lessons going on between the two women, disguises himself as a repairman to date a cleaner, who is actually his wife.
While the anchorwoman and the politician are trying to rekindle their love in their new identities, their daughter is also asking for love from the parents.
The comedy has a moral that may be a bit bitter: urban residents lack love or the ability to love.
8 pm, March 23-24. Opera Hall of Guangzhou Opera House, Exit B1 of Zhujiang New Town subway station, the interchange of subway line 3 and line 5, Guangzhou. 020-3839-2888.
