An opportunity for young artists

To many young artists, it is a golden opportunity to show their talents. And 17-year-old Jiang Yi is one of those artists.

Studying at Zhixin High School in South China’s Guangdong province, Jiang has been playing the piano for almost 15 years.

From an innocent young child to a graceful young adult, Jiang has always had a close relationship with her piano. From her perspective, piano is more like a friend than a musical instrument.

As young as she is, she is an old hand in playing piano. However, participating in this concert still marked a completely new experience for her as this was the first time she played in a grand symphony orchestra.

“In the beginning, I was a little bit nervous for such kinds of art cooperation. And it is not a solo any more but a team work. But I just like to learn something new and any obstacles on my way forward make me stronger,” Jiang said, “I choose Valse Brilliante from Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin this time. Outstanding yet demanding, playing his waltz is more than a challenge for me but paying a tribute to the greatest piano master.”

When talking about her future plans, she said that she hoped to go to college in the United States.

“In comparison with domestic piano training, western professional training may enrich my vision and help me see piano in a different angle. Also, I am a little fan of Chinese young pianist Lang Lang and would like to follow his steps through my persistence and hard work,” Jiang smiled and said.
