The Guangzhou government will publicize the list of its administrative powers on its website on Thursday, in compliance with requirements made at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The list consists of 387 items of administrative approval and 3,139 items of administrative penalty. The powers are supervised by the discipline inspection commission of the Guangdong provincial capital.

“Publishing the list draws a clear boundary of power and is able to prevent corruption,” Mei Heqing, spokesman of the commission and a member of its standing committee, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The commission of discipline inspection launched a trial platform on WeChat, a popular mobile messaging app in China, for the public to inquire about the progess of their administrative violation cases.

Details of legal proceedings of certain administrative violations are also published on the commission’s WeChat platform so that people can check that the results of their cases are in accordance with laws and regulations.
