Updated: 2013-12-30 16:04

An academic certificate identification center was set up at a job fair in Dongguan, a Pearl River Delta city in Guangdong province, on Saturday, Guangzhou-based Nanfang Daily reported.

It was the first time that such a center was established during a job fair in the province, which annually attracts a large number of job seekers from around the country.

More than 10,000 fake academic certificates have been investigated in Dongguan in the past decade.

In addition to helping local employers verify job seekers' academic qualifications, the center put on display counterfeit academic certificates to show what perspective employers should look for.

More than 6,000 university graduates visited the job fair on Saturday. Around 300 job vacancies were on offer at the fair.
