19 H7N9 cases reported on mainland last week

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland confirmed another 19 cases of H7N9 infection last week, health authorities said on Wednesday.

From 4 p.m. April 24 to 4 pm May 1, 19 people were confirmed to have been infected with the new type of bird flu, bringing the total H7N9 cases on the Chinese mainland to 127, according to the National Health and Family Planning Commission.

Among the 19 cases, 16 were founded in east China provinces including Jiangsu (3), Zhejiang (4), Jiangxi (5), Fujian (3) and Shandong (1), while 3 were found in central provinces of Hunan (2) and Henan (1), according to the commission.

The virus has killed 26 people in the mainland, while 26 infected people have recovered, the commission said.
