The National Energy Administration announced on Wednesday that China's commercialized shale gas production has reached 143 million cubic meters.

The country's largest refiner Sinopec Co's shale gas project in Chongqing has realized a cumulative output of 73 million cubic meters with a daily output of 150,000 cubic meters.

By the end of 2015, the project will have an annual production capacity of 5 billion cubic meters with an output of 3.3 billion cubic meters.

The country's biggest oil and gas developer PetroChina Co has a cumulative output of 70 million cubic meters in Changning-Weiyuan and Fushun-Yongchuan shale gas projects.

PetroChina said the projects' output potential has far exceeded expectations during the exploration.

According to China's industrial plan for the shale gas sector, it will reach a proven reserve of 1 trillion cubic meters with an annual output of 6.5 billion cubic meters by 2014.
