Nigeria university students questioned over cyber rape

Agencies | Updated: 2011-09-25 08:05

LAGOS, Nigeria - A police commissioner in Nigeria says investigators have questioned two university students in connection to a gang-rape video posted on the Internet that sparked outrage in the country.

Abia state police commissioner Bala Hassan told The Associated Press on Saturday the questioning came after detectives read online comments alleging the men were involved. Hassan said police haven't spoken to the victim of the rape or received a formal complaint over the attack.

Hassan said no one has been arrested or charged.

Activists in Nigeria say the violent 10-minute video taken at or near Abia State University exposes an underreported epidemic of rape in Africa's most populous nation. However, university officials have denied the attack took place.
