Are 'leftover women' a unique Chinese phenomenon?

Editor's note: If a woman in China is over 30 and unmarried she will face great societal pressure. Labeled 'leftover women', they are fearful of family gatherings especially during Spring Festival. I am a 'leftover woman'. I am 41–year-old, well-educated and civilized, work hard and study hard. However, I am still a single and feel pressure brought on by the circumstances.
