Are 'leftover women' a unique Chinese phenomenon?

In South Korea, both men and women can be called 'leftovers'. Many people there are forced to postpone marriage and having children until they are over 30. Life is hard enough in South Korea to sustain yourself as a single, not speaking of having a family and raising children.
