North China continues its greening work      2016-02-23

The Bureau of Landscape in the city of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia held its annual spring landscaping and tree-planting activity, on Feb 22, with landscapers planting trees in Halaqin Park and Chilechuan Park and along several main roads.

The people of Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region have been decorating lanterns, cooking glutinous rice balls, and arranging yangko dances and guessing games to celebrate the Lantern Festival,symbolizes unity and perfection and is an important part of Spring Festival, and the official end of the long holiday.

Increase in Inner Mongolia grassland vegetation      2016-02-22

The agriculture and animal husbandry bureau of Inner Mongolia has reported on Feb 17, that their grassland vegetation amounted to 43.8 percent last year, for a 6.7 percent increase over the 2010 figure, and 13.8 percent more than for 2000, and a marked improvement in three ecological problems – the sandy wasteland, the deterioration of the area, and the salinization.

The Inner Mongolia autonomous region reports completing its afforestation task of 489.3 million hectares for last year, or 110 percent of its original goal, and a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent.
