The forest fires experienced in Bilahe were extinguished at 12 am on May 5 thanks to the three day and night’s effort of thousands of firefighters and rangers, according to the firefighting headquarters.

The inferno originated from Inner Mongolia’s Beidahe forest in the Greater Hinggan Mountains on May 2. The flames then spread rapidly across Bilahe forest over an area of 11,500 hectares.

The fire was started accidently by an individual dumping burning residue outside of the Amuzhusu service station of the Bilahe forestry department.

During the three days, nearly 9,000 firefighters and rangers were dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze.
