The 2017 Ulanqab Ice and Snow Festival has attracted hundreds of visitors since Jan 20.

The festival, consisting of ice sculpture exhibitions, lantern fairs, and art performances on ice, is being held at three separate squares in Jining district. A total of 27 snow sculptures, 26 ice sculptures, and various winter sports facilities are available for tourists to visit. To catch their attention, the organizers invite troupes to present Russian-style ice dancing and acrobatics, as well as traditional Mongolian performances.

The festival is co-sponsored by the Ulanqab tourism department, the Jining district government, and a local theater company. The ice and snow festival aims to promote winter tourism and entertain local residents, according to the organizer.

The festival will run until Feb 15.
