The city of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia held a cloud-computing industry conference, on March 17, chaired by Di Ruiming, the executive vice mayor and a municipal Party standing committee member, to gather reports on progress in the city's cloud-computing project.

The participants included people in charge of each banner and from China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, the Alibaba Group, and other enterprises, who reported on the progress in cloud-computing industrial zone and related project development and the problems they encountered.

They also put forward suggestions on the city's cloud-computing development and generally agreed that a lack of talent and applications and imperfections in park planning were the main problems they face, to which Di responded by pointing out that cloud computing is an innovative industry and, thanks to good cooperation and a common effort, the cloud computing industry in Hohhot has a good foundation.

The next step, he continued, is to improve the scale of big data, strengthen cloud computing applications, and work for an agglomeration effect to increase the Hohhot cloud-computing industry's influence. He then went on to emphasize the need for all parties to work together to do a good job in design and to develop a national big data gathering area for cloud computing industrial development.

In this, he said, special attention needs to be given to the construction of key projects, better park facilities, the introduction of foreign enterprise, the cultivation of local companies, increased cooperation with colleges, and a solution to the talent shortage problem. Di concluded by saying that they need increased investment, a promotion plan, a big data industry alliance, and more measures to develop the cloud computing industry.
