Family leisure activities have become a craze during the Spring Festival holiday in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, boosting the local tourism market, according to the local tourism bureau.

Recently, the cities of Hohhot and Ordos have seen a large number of ski enthusiasts at ski resorts. Many tourists went to plantation gardens to pick fruits or enjoy rural household meals. Lots of families chose to experience folk customs and taste the pastoral fun during the holiday.

At the same time, Hulunbuir pasture land and Xilin Gol Prairie took advantage of their snow-ice resources and rolled out multiple snow-ice entertainment programs, such as the Nadam Fair and ice skating. Tourists were attracted to appreciate local ice-snow sceneries and enjoy traditional folk sports activities. The autonomous region received 2.99 million domestic tourists during the festival, up 7.54 percent year-on-year. Tourism revenue hit 1.29 billion yuan ($206.75 million), up 19.56 percent year-on-year. Both figures are record highs.
